Na poziv Akademske knjige, francuski autor Toma Piketi, jedan od najistaknutijih ekonomista i mislilaca današnjice, gostovaće u Srbiji tokom Međunarodnog beogradskog sajma knjiga, na kome je Francuska počasni gost.

Organizatori gostovanja Tome Piketija su Akademska knjiga, Francuski institut u Srbiji i Institut za filozofiju i društvenu teoriju.

U organizaciji gostovanja učestvuje Kulturni centar Beograda.

 

PROGRAM GOSTOVANJA:

27. OKTOBAR

Toma Piketi će u Kulturnom centru Beograda 27. oktobra u 20 časova održati predavanje „Kratka istorija jednakosti“.  Tom prilikom biće mu uručena nagrada „Miladin Životić“. Predavanje će biti na engleskom jeziku, bez prevoda. Ulaz je slobodan.

28. OKTOBAR

U subotu, 28. oktobra Toma Piketi i Žilija Kaže, njegova supruga, ekonomistkinja i autorka knjige „Spasavanje medija“ (Akademska knjiga, 2016) gostovaće na Sajmu knjiga.

 

• U 12.30 na štandu Francuske, počasnog gosta Sajma knjiga, u hali 2A, biće organizovana konferencija za medije, uz slobodan pristup za posetioce.
• U 13.30 na štandu Akademske knjige u hali 1 Toma Piketi i Žilija Kaže će potpisivati svoje knjige i družiti se sa čitaocima.

Istoga dana u Institutu za filozofiju i društvenu teoriju u 18.00 biće organizovan stručni seminar „Kapital i ideologija“ (uz prijavu, na engleskom jeziku, bez prevoda).

 

BIOGRAFIJA TOME PIKETIJA

Toma Piketi (Thomas Piketty), francuski ekonomista, rođen je 1971. Profesor je na École d’économie de Paris i na École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). Objavljivanjem naučnog bestselera Kapital u XXI veku (Le capital au XXIe siècle, 2013) Toma Piketi je izazvao veliku pažnju svetske javnosti. U svetu je prodato preko 2,5 miliona primeraka. Knjiga je prevedena na više od 40 svetskih jezika. Glavna tema knjige je nejednakost u bogatstvu i prihodima u Evropi i Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama od 18. veka. Piketi je jedan od najgromoglasnijih zagovornika progresivnog oporezivanja dohotka i bogatstva na globalnom nivou kako bi se smanjila nejednakost u svetu. Po ovoj knjizi snimljen je dugometražni film u režiji novozelandskog režisera Džastina Pembertona.

Ekonomista Svetske banke Branko Milanović Piketijevu knjigu smatra „jednom od prelomnih knjiga u ekonomskom razmišljanju“.

Akademska knjiga je 2015. godine izdala na srpskom jeziku knjigu Kapital u XXI veku u prevodu Kristine Bojanović. Isti izdavač objavio je Piketijeva dela Za sporazum o demokratizaciji Evrope, 2017. (koautori: Antoan Voše, Gijom Sakrist i Stefani Enet) u prevodu Kristine Bojanović, Jedva čekam socijalizam!  (2021) u prevodu Gorane Prodanović, Kratka istorija jednakosti (2023), takođe u prevodu Gorane Prodanović i Kapital i ideologija (2023) u prevodu Aleksandra Stojanovića. Kapital i ideologija je nastavak knjige Kapital u XXI veku. U prevodu Olje Petronić objavljena je i knjiga Sagledati razmere rasizma, pobediti diskriminaciju (2023).

 

THE VISIT OF THOMAS PIKETTY IN SERBIA

At the invitation of the Akademska knjiga, the French author Thomas Piketty, one of the most prominent economists and thinkers of today, will be a guest in Serbia during the International Belgrade Book Fair, where France is the guest of honor.

The co-organizers of Thomas Piketty’s guest appearance are the French Institute in Serbia and the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory.

The Cultural Center of Belgrade and the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade are participating in the organization of the visit.

GUEST PROGRAM:

OCTOBER 27

Thomas Piketty will give a lecture „A Brief History of Equality“ at the Cultural Center of Belgrade on October 27 at 8 p.m. On that occasion, the „Miladin Životić“ Award will be handed to him. The lecture will be in English, without translation. Entrance is free.

 

OCTOBER 28

On Saturday, October 28, Thomas Piketty and Julia Cagé, his wife, economist and author of the book „Saving the Media“ (Akademska knjiga, 2016) will be guests at the Book Fair.

• At 12:30 p.m., a media conference will be organized at the stand of France, the guest of honor at the Book Fair, in hall 2A, with free access for visitors.
• At 1:30 p.m., Thomas Piketty and Julia Cagé will be signing their books and socializing with readers at the Akademska knjiga stand in Hall 1.

On the same day at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory at 18:00, a professional seminar „Capital and Ideology“ will be organized (with registration, in English, without translation).

 

BIOGRAPHY OF THOMAS PIKETTY

Thomas Piketty, a French economist, was born in 1971. He is a Professor at École d’économie de Paris and at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS).

The world-renowned economist Thomas Piketty drew a lot of attention of the world public when he published the book Capital in the XXI Century (Le capital au XXIe siècle) in 2013, which became a scientific bestseller. More than 2.5 million copies have been sold worldwide. It has been translated into more than 40 world languages. The main theme of the book is wealth and income inequality in Europe and the United States since the 18th century. Piketty is one of the most vocal advocates of progressive taxation of income and wealth globally in order to reduce inequality in the world. The book Capital in the XXI Century was adapted into a feature film directed by New Zealand director Justin Pemberton.

An economist of the World Bank Branko Milanović considers Piketty’s book „one of the groundbreaking books in economic thinking”.

In 2015, Akademska knjiga published Capital in the XXI Century in Serbian, translated by Kristina Bojanović. Since then Akademska knjiga has also published his other books How to Democratize Europe (Pour un traité de démocratisation de l’Europe; co-authors: Antoine Vauchez, Guillaume Sacriste and Stephanie Hennette, 2017), translated by Kristina Bojanović, Time for Socialism (Vivement le socialism, 2020) translated by Gorana Prodanović, A Brief History of Equality (Une brève histoire de l’égalité, 2021), also translated by Gorana Prodanović and Capital and Ideology (Capital et idéologie, 2019) translated by Aleksandar Stojanović. Capital and Ideology is a continuation of the book Capital in the XXI Century. The book Measuring Racism, Overcoming Discrimination (Mesurer le racisme, vaincre les discriminations, 2022) was translated by Olja Petronić.

 

THOMAS PIKETTY EN SERBIE

A l’invitation des éd. Akademska knjiga, l’auteur français Thomas Piketty, l’un des économistes et penseurs les plus connus d’aujourd’hui, se rendra en Serbie, à l’occasion du Salon du livre de Belgrade, dont la France est l’invitée d’honneur.

Les co-organisateurs de la venue de Thomas Piketty sont l’Institut français de Serbie et l’Institut de philosophie et de théorie sociale.

Le Centre culturel de Belgrade et la Faculté des sciences économiques de Belgrade participent également à l’organisation de cette visite

Vendredi, 27 octobre

Thomas Piketty donnera une conférence « Une brève histoire de l’égalité » au Centre culturel de Belgrade le 27 octobre à 20h. A cette occasion, il recevra le prix „Miladin Životić“. La conférence sera en anglais, sans traduction. L’entrée est gratuite.

Samedi, 28 octobre

Le samedi 28 octobre, Thomas Piketty et Julia Cagé, son épouse, économiste et autrice du livre « Sauver les médias » (Livre académique, 2016), seront au Salon du livre.

• A 12h30, une conférence de presse ouverte au public sera organisée sur le stand de la France, invitée d’honneur du Salon du livre, dans le hall 2A
• À 13h30, Thomas Piketty et Žilija Kaže dédicaceront leurs livres et rencontreront les lecteurs au stand Akademska knjiga dans le hall 1.

Le même jour, à l’Institut de Philosophie et Théorie Sociale, à 18h00, un séminaire professionnel „Capital et Idéologie“ sera organisé (sur inscription, en anglais, sans traduction).

 

Thomas Piketty, né le 7 mai 1971 à Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine), est un économiste, écrivain, enseignant-chercheur et scénariste français. Directeur d’études à l’École des hautes études en sciences sociales et professeur à l’École d’économie de Paris qu’il a co-fondée, il est spécialiste des inégalités économiques dans une perspective historique et comparative.

Il est l’auteur de 18 ouvrages dont les plus notables sont Le Capital au XXIe siècle (2013), vendu à plus de 2,5 millions d’exemplaires dans le monde et adapté en documentaire, ainsi que sa suite Capital et Idéologie (2019).
